About

I’m Adhil KA, from Kerala, India. Curious about pretty much everything.

The short version

I’ve been taking things apart since I was five, sometimes just to see what was inside. By twelve I was turning the stuff I dismantled into other stuff. Now I dismantle operating systems, applications, software configurations and occasionally my own sleep schedule.

I know a little about a lot of things, have gone deep into some very specific topics, and have a suspicious number of unfinished projects to prove it. I’d rather be honest about that than pretend I’ve mastered everything I touch.

The computer situation

I do frontend and backend development, and I’m more interested in the backend: systems, APIs, data and the parts that make a product function instead of merely exist. Then I open the frontend for one tiny adjustment and suddenly I’m three hours into a new design system for an app with no core features. The backend is still sitting there. Waiting.

I also use computers to customize computers: Linux rices, window managers, terminal setups, Android and iOS tweaks, Windows modifications. A default setup is an invitation.

Open tabs

My brain has roughly 900 open tabs. Focus is something I struggle with, and ADHD is part of the picture for me. I can get absorbed in an obscure topic while struggling to aim that energy at something important. I don’t want to romanticize it, but my curiosity is one of the things I like most about myself.

Anime and reading

Over 1,000 anime watched, about 600 tracked on AniList. Favourites: One Piece (rewatched about 2.5 times, no further explanation), Mushoku Tensei and The Apothecary Diaries. When the recommendations run dry, I move on to manga, manhwa and manhua.

The gym arc

I train, and I have eaten an unreasonable number of full-grown chickens for protein. I’m still working toward a 100 kg bench press, though the chest press machine and I get along better: around 160 kg for 12 reps.

Research rabbit holes

A simple question turns into documentation, forum threads and a topic that has nothing to do with what I started with. I like understanding why something works, not just that it does. I’m also a little into looksmaxxing, mostly the science, ingredients and whether the claims hold up.

Socially

Reserved with people I don’t know. Once I’m comfortable, I become talkative, chaotic and a permanent source of notifications.

What I’m trying to do

Get better at software development beyond making things look good, understand systems properly, experiment with hardware and software together, and finally finish more of what I start. The execution remains a work in progress.
